First FO’s of the year!

I have a few finished objects to kick off this year right! I am very excited about that. I finished the Botanic Hat from my last post, as well as some basic gloves to match for Steve.

Botanic Hat, Pattern by Stephen West Ravelry Project Page

Here are the gloves! They are a little snug, but he likes them. I used left over Berroco Vintage from the hat so it would match. Using a pretty modfied version of the Modified Army Glove Pattern.
Ravelry Project Page Each project page has the details of stitch counts and yardage toward the marathon of knitting, but check the sidebars for update totals!

Botanic Hat

I have started my first project of 2014!  Casted on late on  Jan 1st, after a day of fighting with an angry ball of yarn.  I am using 2 colors of Berroco Vintage to make the Batonic Hat, by Stephen West.  This lovely project will be for my Hubby. He got a much-needed new (and properly fitting) coat this season, and will now need a new hat to go with it.

It's also a nice quick project to jump-start the 1 Million stitch challenge I am doing. I attempted this quest 2 years ago and fell short, but this year am giving it another go! For those interested this is a rough break down - Daily average needs to be around 2,740 stitches, and monthly 83,333! That's a lot of knitting, but hopefully I can get it done this year. Life is much calmer now without weddings, and home buying to deal with. (Granted there are always home projects, but much more knitting this year!)

I also decided to join in a with a group of folks KNITTING a MARATHON worth of yarn. I though holy cow when they frist suggested it after reading about the Million stitches, this is about 41,112 yards worth of yarn. Ya that's ALOOOOT of knitting, but I figure what they hay, if I am going to do one, I might as well track both and see how far it gets me.

Anyways right now I'm only at 3,168 stitches, so I better go knit some!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Years Everyone!

2014 already, how did that happen so quickly?   Anyways, what better way to start off a new year than to kick off the new blog!  Long story short, I took a hiatus last year, and in the process lost my domain name. So where we are now at Raindropknits.com.  Excited to have the fresh start. Some of the plans for this years blogging include lots of different topics.  Don't fret through it will still be Knitting, Knitting, Knitting and more Knitting, but there will also be some new topics including cooking, fitness, and sewing!  I am personally really looking forward to making this a more inclusive blog as my interests have expanded beyond knitting so much in the last year or so. Hopefully some of these other topics will be interesting to you all as well. So since it's that time of year, I thought I'd share some of my goals for the upcoming year!
  • Knitting Goals - Republish all current patterns, and design and publish at least 10 new patterns!
  • Fitness Goals - Train and Run a 1/2 Marathon. (Picked out one on 9/21/2014!)
  • Sewing Goals - Just to simply learn what I am doing (lol).
Whats a goal or two of yours?!

Thanks all for coming by, and I hope you enjoy the new blog!
